The Inauguration Ceremony of the 9th Batch of the Bachelor of Arts (External) Degree Programme, conducted by the Unit of Postgraduate, External Degrees, and Extension Courses (UPEDEC), was successfully held on 23 March 2025 at the Examination Hall of the Library Building of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.

The ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and new academic beginnings.

The welcome address was delivered by the Course Coordinator, Dr. Ven. Panamure Chandima, who warmly greeted the newly enrolled students and highlighted the importance of commitment and discipline in external degree studies.

The exhortation speech was delivered by Snr. Prof. (Chair) Ven. Kanangamuwe Rahula, Director of UPEDEC, who emphasized academic dedication, time management, and the value of higher education in personal and professional development.

The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. G. K. C. S. Godakanda, Deputy Registrar of UPEDEC, expressing appreciation to the dignitaries, academic staff, and students for their participation.

The event marked the formal commencement of academic activities for the 9th Batch of the Bachelor of Arts (External) Degree Programme.
