The second programme of the Special Lecture series on “Managing Academic Profiles on Scientific Social Networks” was successfully held on 11 September 2024 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.
The workshop was organized by the Staff Development Center (SDC) with the objective of enhancing the research visibility and professional digital presence of the academic staff.
The session was conducted by Dr. S. K. Illangarathne, Librarian of the University, who provided practical guidance on managing academic identities in online scientific communities.
Objectives of the Workshop
To educate academic staff on the importance of maintaining updated and accurate academic profiles on scientific networking platforms.
To provide hands-on guidance in creating and managing profiles on platforms such as ResearchGate, Google Scholar, and ORCID.
To demonstrate best practices for increasing the visibility, citation impact, and global reach of academic publications through effective profile management.
The session emphasized the strategic role of digital academic profiles in enhancing research dissemination, collaboration opportunities, and institutional reputation. Participants were introduced to techniques for optimizing profiles, linking publications accurately, and tracking citation metrics.
The programme significantly contributed to strengthening the digital research presence and scholarly impact of the University’s academic community.
