Training Programme on Traditional Methods of Dhamma Preaching

The Department of Buddhist and Pali Studies of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka organized a specialized training programme aimed at guiding student monks in preaching the Dhamma using traditional and appropriate methods. The programme was successfully held on 30 September 2025 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies.

The training was conducted by Senior Professor Ven. Pathegama Gnanissara and Senior Lecturer Ven. Kumbugoda Are Pannaloka, who served as the resource persons for the session. The programme focused on preserving classical preaching traditions while equipping students with effective communication techniques suitable for contemporary audiences.

During the sessions, participants were instructed on sermon structure, scriptural accuracy, voice modulation, audience engagement, and the ethical responsibilities of a Dhamma preacher. Emphasis was placed on maintaining authenticity, clarity, and discipline in delivering Buddhist teachings.

The programme significantly contributed to strengthening the spiritual, intellectual, and communicative competencies of the student monks, reaffirming the University’s dedication to preserving the rich heritage of Dhamma preaching.
