Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka Celebrates a Milestone in Academic Excellence

The Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka is thrilled to announce a monumental achievement in the history of the university, the publication of ground-breaking research by the Department of Social Sciences and Comparative Studies, Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies in a Q1-indexed journal, Quaternary Science Reviews. This marks the first-time research from the university has been recognised on such a prestigious platform.

The research, led by Rev. Pahiyangala Sumangala and a team of multidisciplinary experts, provide unprecedented insights into the Terminal Pleistocene to Mid-Holocene rainforest foragers in Sri Lanka through the excavation at Kebella-lena rock shelter. This study highlights the adaptability and technological ingenuity of early human societies in tropical rainforests Sri Lanka in a significant position within global prehistoric studies.
