The workshop on “Student-Centered Learning” was successfully held on 23 December 2024 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.
The programme was organized by the Staff Development Center (SDC) in collaboration with the Center for Quality Assurance (CQA) of the University, as part of ongoing initiatives to strengthen academic quality and innovative teaching practices.
The workshop was conducted by Prof. C. K. Beneragama, Head of the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya.
The session aimed to enhance teaching and learning practices by introducing contemporary student-centered pedagogical approaches. Emphasis was placed on active learning strategies, including group and small-group activities, collaborative problem-solving, and participatory classroom engagement.
In addition, the workshop explored effective methods of continuous assessment and discussed the integration of AI-assisted teaching tools to support academic delivery and student performance evaluation. Participants engaged in interactive discussions on aligning teaching strategies with quality assurance standards and learning outcomes.
The programme significantly contributed to promoting innovative pedagogy, academic excellence, and quality enhancement within the University.
