The Workshop on Art Therapy for Mental Well-being was successfully conducted on 19 December 2024 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.
The programme was organized by the Department of Applied Buddhist Studies in accordance with the Annual Action Plan 2024, with the objective of promoting psychological well-being and creating a healthy teaching–learning environment within the University.
The workshop was conducted by Ven. Ethiliwawe Depananda, Lecturer (Probationary) in Psychology. The session focused on the use of aesthetic and creative activities as therapeutic tools to support emotional balance, stress reduction, and mental health enhancement.
The objectives of the workshop were:
To enhance the mental well-being of both staff and students.
To promote a healthy and supportive environment for the teaching and learning process.
To educate participants on mental health improvement techniques related to aesthetic and creative activities.
Through interactive activities and guided reflections, participants gained practical insights into how art-based therapeutic methods can be integrated into daily life to foster emotional resilience and mindfulness.
The programme reflects the University’s commitment to holistic development, recognizing that academic excellence is strengthened by mental and emotional well-being.
