Under the guidance of the Ministry of Buddhist Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Department of Buddhist Affairs, the third phase of the “Kusalassa Upasampada” training workshop was successfully conducted from 20 January 2025 to 25 January 2025 at the Devaram Maha Vihara for student monks registered for the academic year 2023/2024 at the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.
The programme was organized with the objective of developing the spiritual discipline, leadership qualities, and essential skills of university-bound student monks, ensuring their holistic growth in both academic and monastic life.
The training workshop was conducted with the esteemed guidance and support of Most Venerable Dr. Kolonnawa Siri Sumangala Maha Nayaka Thero, Venerable Omalpé Sobitha Nayaka Thero, Venerable Ranpathwila Vimalaratana Thero, Venerable Gonagala Assaji Nayaka Thero, Venerable Athurugiriye Dhammavihari Thero, Venerable Maramba Chandavimala Thero, Venerable Thalpé Dheerananda Thero, and Venerable Vijeriyé Vimala Thero. Lecturers of the University also contributed to the programme, providing academic and practical guidance.
The workshop focused on strengthening monastic discipline, leadership development, communication skills, ethical conduct, and preparation for university-level studies. Through structured sessions and spiritual training activities, participants were equipped with the necessary foundations to successfully integrate academic excellence with monastic responsibilities.
The successful completion of the third phase of this programme reflects the continued commitment of the University and relevant authorities to nurturing disciplined, knowledgeable, and socially responsible members of the monastic community.
