The “Guru Tharuvata Perehuruvak” (ගුරු තරුවට පෙරහුරුවක්) – Leadership Development Workshop 02, themed “Communication Skills for Effective Teacher Leadership,” was successfully held on 15 September 2025 at the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.

The workshop was organized by the Department of Social Sciences and Comparative Studies in alignment with the Annual Action Plan 2025, with the objective of enhancing students’ understanding of the teaching profession and its broader academic, ethical, and social responsibilities.

The session was conducted by Mr. K. B. Anura Ranjith Kumara, Assistant Centre Manager of the Psychosocial Intervention and Counselling Unit, Provincial Department of Education, North Central Province. He delivered an engaging and practical session on the role of effective communication in shaping impactful teacher leadership.

The workshop emphasized the development of confidence, clarity in expression, active listening, emotional intelligence, and collaborative engagement — all essential qualities of an effective teacher leader. Through interactive activities and real-life scenarios, participants were guided on how communication skills influence classroom management, student motivation, and professional relationships.

This leadership development initiative contributed significantly to fostering professional growth, self-awareness, and leadership potential among aspiring educators.
