Inauguration Ceremony – 10th Batch of Bachelor of Arts (External) Degree Program

The Inauguration Ceremony of the 10th Batch of the Bachelor of Arts Degree Program (External), conducted by the Unit of Postgraduate, External Degrees and Extension Courses (UPEDEC), was held on 14 February 2026 at the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.

The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp. The welcome address was delivered by the Course Coordinator of the Bachelor of Arts Degree Program, Dr. Ven. Panamure Chandima Thero. The exhortation address was delivered by the Director of UPEDEC, Dr. Ven. Kadihingala Hemasiri Thero.

The Chief Guest, Emeritus Professor C. M. Maddumabandara, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya and a member of the Senate of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka, delivered the guest speech.  Further addresses were delivered by Mr. S. Aruna Indika Somarathna, Registrar of the University; Mr. S. K. Illangarathna, Librarian of the University; and Mr. L. P. K. Gunatilake, Senior Assistant Registrar (Examinations).

The inauguration ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. R. M. K. Jayathilaka, Deputy Registrar of UPEDEC.
