A training programme on “Library Management and Collection Development” for Librarians of Sri Lankan Pirivenas was successfully held on 07 November 2024 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.
The programme was organized by the University Library with the objective of raising awareness about modern library management practices and strengthening collection development strategies within Pirivena libraries.
The training sessions were conducted by:

Mr. Y. K. Tissa Bandara, Senior Assistant Librarian of the University
The sessions focused on contemporary approaches to library administration, cataloguing systems, collection development policies, digital resource management, and strategies for enhancing user services. Participants were introduced to best practices in organizing, preserving, and expanding library collections to better serve educational and monastic communities.
The programme significantly contributed to strengthening the capacity of Pirivena librarians and promoting the modernization of library services in support of Buddhist education across Sri Lanka.
