Sanskrit Workshop – 2024

In accordance with the Annual Action Plan 2024, a Sanskrit Workshop was successfully conducted on 17 December 2024 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.

The programme was organized by the Department of Languages with the objective of developing students’ knowledge of Sanskrit and enhancing their proficiency in spoken Sanskrit.

The workshop was conducted by Senior Lecturer Ven. Baladora Indajothi, Senior Lecturer Ven. Karandagolle Sobhitha, and Lecturer (Unconfirmed) Ven. Dr. Kaluwane Kumarakassapa. The resource persons provided comprehensive instruction on linguistic structures, pronunciation techniques, and conversational usage of Sanskrit.

The objectives of the workshop were:

  • To strengthen students’ understanding of Sanskrit grammar and vocabulary.

  • To improve speaking ability and conversational fluency in Sanskrit.

  • To introduce the use of modern technological tools and digital resources for effective Sanskrit study.

The sessions incorporated interactive activities and practical exercises, enabling students to confidently apply their knowledge in both academic and communicative contexts.

The workshop significantly contributed to preserving classical language traditions while integrating innovative approaches to language learning.
