The “Guru Tharuvata Perehuruvak” – Leadership Development Workshop was successfully held on 26 June 2025 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.
The programme was organized by the Department of Social Sciences and Comparative Studies in alignment with the Annual Action Plan 2025, with the objective of deepening students’ understanding of the teaching profession and its broader academic, ethical, and social responsibilities.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. K. B. Anura Ranjith Kumara, Assistant Centre Manager of the Psychosocial Intervention and Counselling Unit at the Provincial Department of Education, North Central Province. He delivered an engaging session highlighting the importance of leadership qualities, communication skills, and psychosocial awareness in modern educational settings.
The programme was specifically designed for undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education Degree Programme, studying Education Science and related disciplines. The workshop focused on cultivating essential competencies such as leadership skills, co-curricular and extracurricular engagement, teamwork, adaptability, and professional confidence — all of which are vital for future educators navigating dynamic and evolving educational environments.
The initiative significantly contributed to strengthening the professional preparedness and leadership potential of aspiring teachers.
