A workshop on Artifact Drawing and Planning was successfully conducted on 9 and 10 December 2024 at the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka. The programme was organized by the Department of Social Sciences and Comparative Studies for students specializing in Archaeology.
The workshop featured Mr. M. W. Indika as the subject expert, who provided comprehensive guidance on the techniques and standards of accurately drawing and planning archaeological artifacts. The sessions emphasized the importance of precise visual documentation in archaeological analysis and reporting.
Students were trained in measurement techniques, scaling methods, line drawing standards, sectioning, and layout planning for artifact documentation. The programme focused on developing the technical skills required for detailed representation, interpretation, and preservation of archaeological materials.
Through hands-on practical exercises and expert instruction, participants gained valuable experience in artifact illustration — a fundamental component of archaeological research, publication, and heritage conservation. The workshop significantly enhanced students’ competencies in scientific documentation and professional field practices.
