A Library Orientation and Awareness Programme for the new students of the Academic Year 2022/2023 was conducted by Acting Librarian Mr. Y. K. Tissa Bandara on 20th March 2024 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. at the Faculty of Buddhist Studies Auditorium.
The programme was organized with the objective of introducing the University Library and raising awareness regarding the effective use of its resources and services. During the session, students were familiarized with the library’s facilities, including printed collections, reference materials, digital resources, and research support services.
Mr. Tissa Bandara also provided guidance on accessing cataloguing systems, borrowing procedures, library regulations, and responsible usage of academic materials. Emphasis was placed on encouraging independent learning, research engagement, and the development of information literacy skills.
This initiative plays a vital role in strengthening academic support services and promoting a research-oriented culture among newly enrolled students at Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.
