AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Several awards and scholarships have been established for certain academic courses as follows:

• Sri Saddharama Award

This award, which has been established by Dr. Wimala Wijesundara in memory of Ven. Matara Sri Saddharama Nayaka Thero, is offered to the student who tops the subject, Buddhist Civilization  at the B.A. (Hons.) Degree Programme.

• Vimukti Margadipani Award

This award, which has been established by Pandit Gunapala Senadheera, former Registrar of the Buddhasravaka Dharmapeetha is offered to the student who tops the  subject,  Buddhist Philosophyat the B.A. (Hons.) Degree Programme.

• Hisselle Sri Dhammaratana Memorial Award

This award, which has been established by Ven. Yatagama Dhammapala Thero in memory of Ven. Yatagama Dhammaratana Thero, is offered to the student who tops the  subject, Sanskrit at the B.A. (Hons.) Degree Programme.

• Vimukti Margadipani Award

This award, which has been established by Ven. Warakawehera Dhammapala Thero, former lecturer of the Buddhasravaka Bhiksu University, Anuradhapura, is offered to the student who earns a First Class Honours and tops the  subject,  Ubhatovibhanga and Khandhaka at the B.A. (Hons.) Degree Programme.

• Thai Sangharaja Award

This award, which has been established by Most Ven. Somidenshu Ariyavansa Nayaka Thero (Siamese Sangharaja) and Most Ven. Irihakayama (Japanese Sangharaja), is offered to the student who tops the  subject, Buddhist Philosophy at the B.A. (General) Degree Programme.

• Egoda Gamage Nicholas Appuhami Memorial Award

This award, which has been established by Mr. P.S.A. Gamage, is offered to the student who tops the  subject, Sinhala at the B.A. (General) Degree Programme.

• H.C.M. Soyza Award

This award, which has been established by the Sasana Sewaka Society, Maharagama in memory of Dr. H.C.M. Soyza, is offered to the student who tops the  subject, Pali at the B.A. (Hons.) Degree Programme.

• Pragna Development Award

This award which has been established by Mr. D.S. Kalugampitiya in memory of his parents, is offered to the student who tops the Contemporary Social Understanding subject at the G.A.Q. Examination.

• Ven. Warakawehera Dhammapala Award

This award which has been established by Ven. Warakawehera Dhammapala, former Lecturer of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka, is offered to the student who earns a First Class Honours at the B.A. (Hons.) Degree Programme and earns a Distinction Pass (A) for the compulsory subject Theravada Abhidharma.

• Dr. Sengaku Maeda Award

This award, which has been established by Dr. Sengaku Maeda of Japan, is offered to the student who tops the  subject,  Practical Buddhist Studies at the B.A. (General) Degree Programme.

• Ven. Ethinimale Sri Gunarathana Memorial Award

This award, which was established by Ven. Kallanchiye Rathanasiri Thero is offered to the student who obtains the highest mark and the average of 70% for the  subject, Pali  in Special Degree Programme.

• B. Venura Lakshman Award

This award, which has been established by Mr. Venura Lakshman is offered to the student who obtains the highest mark and the average mark of 75% for the four course units on Information Technology on the first and second years
