The Right to Information Act No. 12 of 2016 was introduced in Sri Lanka to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance by giving citizens the legal right to access information held by public institutions. According to this Act, every public authority must appoint responsible officers to handle information requests and appeals. In Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka, the Registrar serves as the Designated Officer, while the Deputy Registrar serves as the Information Officer to implement the provisions of the Act.
