Awareness Programme on Drug Prevention

An awareness programme on “Drug Prevention” was successfully conducted at the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka on 24 September 2025. The programme was organized by the Student Services Division as part of its ongoing efforts to promote student well-being and responsible citizenship.

The session was conducted by Professor G. N. Duminda Guruge, who delivered an informative and engaging presentation on the social, psychological, and health-related consequences of drug abuse. The programme focused on raising awareness about the risks associated with substance use, early warning signs, preventive strategies, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Participants were encouraged to actively engage in discussion, ask questions, and reflect on their role in fostering a safe and supportive university environment. The programme emphasized the collective responsibility of students and staff in preventing drug-related issues and promoting a culture of discipline and well-being within the University.

This initiative further demonstrates the University’s commitment to safeguarding the physical and mental health of its students.
