Department of Practical Buddhist Studies


Overview

The Department of Practical Buddhist Studies established under the Faculty of Buddhist Studies offers theoretical and practical academic programmes for students, including Practical Buddhist Studies, Buddhist Psychology and Counselling, Meditation, Mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) Methods, Yoga, Astrology (jyōtiṣa) and Information Technology (IT). In addition to these academic programmes, the Department organizes practical events identical to the Buddhist cultural heritage such as Sewing Robes and Applying Colours (pandu), Reading Writing and Editing Palm Leaf Manuscripts (puskola), Domestic Medicine Production and Counselling Programmes etc. Further, The Buddhist Counselling Service is provided for all the student monks by the Department of PBS.
