Department established
The Department of Social Sciences and Comparative Studies was established to support teaching and academic engagement across social-science-related areas.

The department’s publicly described role emphasizes practical knowledge, research experience and comparative study, including academic engagement with Buddhism.
Faculty structure established
With the establishment of faculties at the university in 2012, the department was placed under the Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies.
