University Grants Commission (UGC) and the CVCD have recommended for establishing the Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA) in the universities, to facilitate the quality assurance activities of the universities and coordinate them with the Quality Assurance Council at the UGC.

The CQA of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka oversees quality assurance for all new and existing degree programs, Faculties and Units. The objective of the CQA would be to operationalize all quality assurance measures which would have control on academics and the quality of education in the University.
