Bachelor of Arts in Heritage Management

The Bachelor of Arts in Heritage Management is designed to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the preservation, conservation, and sustainable management of cultural and historical heritage. The programme focuses on safeguarding both tangible and intangible heritage while promoting cultural awareness and national identity.

The curriculum begins with foundational studies in heritage management and the recognition of Buddhist heritage. As students progress, they gain a deeper understanding of heritage conservation principles, legal frameworks related to heritage protection, and the management of cultural resources within Sri Lanka and beyond.

The programme covers diverse areas such as intangible heritage management, hydro heritage, traditional industries, museum and exhibition management, and tourism-based heritage development. Students are trained to critically evaluate heritage policies and apply professional standards in conservation and management practices.

By integrating cultural, historical, legal, and managerial perspectives, the B.A. in Heritage Management prepares graduates for careers in heritage institutions, museums, cultural tourism, conservation projects, and governmental or non-governmental heritage organizations.

The programme aims to produce responsible heritage professionals capable of preserving cultural legacy while contributing to sustainable development and community engagement.
