Rules and Regulations for the Protection of Library Materials

All members of the Library are required to comply with the following rules and regulations to ensure the proper use, preservation, and security of library materials and facilities. These regulations are established for the benefit of the entire academic community. Failure to adhere to the stated terms and conditions may result in disciplinary action, including the suspension or cancellation of library membership. Penalties and fines applicable to violations are outlined below.

All readers must carry their valid University Identity Card when entering and using the Library.

  • The entry of bags, umbrellas, closed file covers, personal photocopies, and personal printed documents or books into the Library is strictly prohibited.
  • A quiet and scholarly atmosphere must be maintained at all times. Conducting interviews, engaging in loud conversations, or causing disturbances to other readers or staff members is not permitted.
  • The use of cellular phones within the Library premises is strictly prohibited.
  • When a book is properly issued at the circulation counter, readers must allow the security officer to record the necessary details related to the borrowed material.
  • Books that have already been borrowed must not be brought back into the Library, except for the purpose of returning them.
  • Damaging, marking, defacing, or mutilating library materials is considered a serious offence and will result in disciplinary action and penalties.
  • Readers may seek assistance from library staff to locate required materials. Users are not expected to reshelve books after use; placing them on the designated tables is sufficient.
  • Any attempt to borrow library materials using another person’s library card will result in the immediate suspension or cancellation of the offender’s own library membership.

These regulations are enforced to safeguard library resources and to maintain an environment conducive to study, research, and academic excellence.
