Library Membership
Eligibility for Library Membership
The following categories of users are eligible to obtain membership of the University Library:
- Registered undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University
- Permanent academic staff
- Permanent non-academic staff
- Temporary academic staff (subject to a security deposit)
- Visiting inquirers (for reading purposes only)
Obtaining Library Membership
Students, academic staff, and researchers who wish to obtain library membership are required to submit a duly completed application form, obtainable from the library counter. Upon approval, applicants will be issued a library license/card, which entitles them to access library services and make use of library materials in accordance with library regulations.
All registered members are eligible to make use of library facilities, collections, and services subject to the rules and regulations of the Library.
Registration and Issue of Library Cards
All internal students registered with the University are entitled to use the Library. For registration, a completed reader application form must be submitted together with a valid University Identity Card.
- First-year students: Three (3) lending library cards
- Second-year students: Four (4) lending library cards
- Third-year students: Five (5) lending library cards
- Fourth-year students: Six (6) lending library cards
Postgraduate students are also eligible to use library facilities. Special research scholars may use the Library with prior approval from the Librarian.
Renewal of Library Membership
Library membership and library cards must be renewed annually. Members are required to submit their library cards to the Circulation Section for renewal during the months of February and March each year.
Lending services will not be provided without valid renewal. Failure to renew library membership within the specified period may result in the temporary suspension or cancellation of membership.
Responsibilities of Library Members
Library cards are strictly non-transferable. It is an offence to lend one’s library card to another person. The cardholder shall be fully responsible for all library materials issued using their library card. Any misuse of library cards will result in disciplinary action in accordance with library regulations.
