Staff development activities in all universities were initiated by the UGC through Commission Circular No. 820, dated 20th February 2003, and further strengthened by Commission Circular No. 937, dated 10th November 2010. In alignment with these initiatives, Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka (BUSL) began its own staff development activities around 2012. Initially established as the ‘Staff Development Unit’ (SD U) in 2022, it adopted the new title ‘Staff Development Center’ (SDC) in August, 2024.
