English Field visit to Gavel Club of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka
The Department of Languages concluded its highly anticipated workshop, “Public Speaking”, organized for the first time, to nurture the English public speaking skills of undergraduates who read English as a subject of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka. The event was hosted by the undergraduates attached to the Gavel Club, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.
The event was held in the Convocation Hall of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the 11th December, 2024. Ven. Pahala Eraula Kolitha, Mr. Dilhan Rajapakse and Mr. Ashley De Silva participated in the event, representing the Department of Languages. The occasion was an enriching experience for both student groups. The event had a significant impact on personal confidence and communication skills. It also opened new avenues of collaboration with undergraduates that speak English as a second language of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.
The participants gathered for several sessions under the intention of developing public speaking. Each session, designed to focus on every minute detail and facilitated by experienced mentors, provided a supportive environment for participants to explore and hone their speaking abilities.
