Department of Buddhist and Pali Studies

There are two academic sectors belonging to the faculty of Buddhist studies: the Department of Buddhist and Pāli and the Department of Applied Buddhist Studies. Amongst them, the department of Buddist and Pāli studies is the main section in the faculty as well as in the University. According to the objectives of Sri Lanka Bhiksu University Act, the role of the department is to generate knowledgeable, erudite monks who can surmount the future challenges. By 2019 academic year, the department of Buddhist and Pāli Studies is of 17 resource persons including the senior professors, professors, senior lecturers, lectures, probationary lecturers and assistant lecturers. It also consists of lay staff. The office of the department head and the other offices are instituted in the second floor of the faculty building.
