A GIS and Remote Sensing Workshop

A GIS and Remote Sensing workshop for student monks pursuing studies in Archeology Hon’s Degree, was held at the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka on 11th and 12th December 2024 by the Department of Social Sciences and Comparative Studies. The resource persons were expert instructors Mr. Amara Perera, Mr. Dhanajana Wikramage, and Mr. H. K. S. N. Jayasinghe from the Department of Archaeology. The session focused on the application of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and remote sensing technologies in archaeological research, site mapping, and analysis. Students were introduced to various tools and techniques for spatial data collection and interpretation, enhancing their ability to utilize these advanced technologies in archaeological fieldwork and research.
