08th International Buddhist Conference 2024

The 08th International Buddhist Conference – 2024 (BUSL-IBC-2024) organized to promote the study and research of Buddhism under the theme “Buddhism for Global Well-being and Qualitative Transformation” took place on 21.11.2024 in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies of the University and Senior Lecturer Ven. Wewala Dhammaloka was the Chairman of the conference.
The guest of honour was Most Venerable Makulewe Wimala Maha Nayaka Thero of the Sri Lanka Rāmañña Maha Nikāya and the distinguished keynote speaker was Emeritus Professor Asanga Thilakarathna.
The objectives of the conference were to provide a platform for scholars, practitioners, and students to discuss and share insights on Buddhist teachings and their applications in the modern world, to explore the role of Buddhism in fostering peace, harmony, and sustainable development, to promote intercultural dialogues and understanding, and to enhance the visibility and impact of Buddhism and its practice globally.
