First, as the Director of the Unit of Postgraduate, External Degrees and Extension Courses, (UPEDEC), I would like to extend best wishes to all students enrolling in our Unit of Postgraduate, External Degrees and Extension Courses in the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.
The Unit of Postgraduate, External Degrees and Extension Courses offers three kinds of courses to enhance and enrich Buddhist Studies. The Unit has made significant progress in advancing both teaching and research at MA, MPhil and Ph.D. levels. The Unit guides students to achieve the standards of research. The library of the University enables easy access to a wide range of resource materials for students attached to the Unit of Postgraduate, External Degrees and Extension Courses. Though currently we enroll local Bhikku Students, we wish to enroll foreign and lay students as well in the year 2020.
In addition to the postgraduate studies, we offer Bachelor of Arts (General) Degrees and Extension courses such as Diploma in Buddhist Education, Diploma in English, Diploma in Tamil, Higher Certificate in Astrology, Certificate in English, Certificate in Tamil and Certificate in Information and Communication Technology for both Bhikku and lay students.
Studying Buddhism is not merely an academic exercise. It is a life-enhancing discipline. I hope that students enrolling at the BUSL will excel academically and reach greater heights of personal development.
