The Sanskrit Day organized by the Department of Languages of the BUSL was successfully concluded on 20th December 2022 under the patronage of the Dean, Faculty of Languages and Cultural Studies, Senior Lecturer Ven. Galwewe Wimalakhanthi, Chair Professor Ven. Kanangamuwe Rahula, the Head of the Department of Languages, Senior Lecturer Ven. Baladora Indrajothi and the Senior Lecturer Ven. Karandagolle Sobhitha, Lecturer, Ven. Dr. Kaluwane Kumarakassapa etc.
To mark the day, two special lectures were delivered on; zzixialD; wOHhkh i|yd kQ;k ;dCIKhZZ (Modern Technology for the Sanskrit Studies) by Senior Lecturer Ven. Baladora Indrajothi, the Head of the Department of Languages and zzúêu;a ixialD; YsCIKhla i|yd Wmdh ud¾.ZZ(The Strategies for the Formal Sanskrit Studies) by Senior Lecturer Ven. Dr. Mawathagama Pemananda, Department of Sanskrit, Sri Lanka Pali and Buddhist University.
The competitions for the Sanskrit Language and Literature were organized for student monks of the University, Pirivena students of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara and Kurunegala districts. Sanskrit speech competitions were organized for all island Pirivena students. And, more than 50 Pirivena teachers and 100 students participated in the event.
Prizes were sponsored by Dr. Ven Jandure Pannananda (Rs. 100,000.00), Ven. Nedagamuwe Pannaloka ( $ 200) and Ven. Rotumba Indarathana (Rs. 70,000.00).
