Ven. Uduwila Uparathana is a Senior Lecturer in Archaeology, attached to the Department of Social Sciences and Comparative Studies, Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka. He obtained his Ph.D. and MA Degrees in Archaeology from Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute, Pune India. He further completed his BA Degree from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

Ph.D. Degree with the topic of “Dietary patterns of early and modern Buddhist monastery life, based on faunal remains in Anuradhapuara, Sri Lanka.” Under the supervision of Prof: Vijay Sathe, the Department of Archaeology, Deccan College Postgraduate Research Institute, Pune, India.

M.A in Archaeology (research) with the first class. Department of Archaeology of Deccan College Postgraduate Research Institute, Pune, India

M.A. In Buddhist study (English medium) from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. This degree entailed one year of course work.
